government trying to shut down independent TV station TF1 and inflict harm on PS for refusing in 1991 to help
him survive cancer. In retaliation this dying Fr pres Mitt created one of the most vicious public scandals in recent
history. After the French police arrested the TV host and producer who invited PS on their popular talk show,
raided all PS offices and home, stole all his client files and names, and failed to arrest PS, the French public
demonstrated their overwhelming outrage which was fully covered by the French press. A day later, the TV host
and producer were released and the head of PS organization was kept in prison for 4 months under tortuous
conditions. A year later, the French government issued a request to the US government for the extradition of PS
who had arrived in the US to seek political asylum and save his own life from French religious persecution. In
1992, US Fed Judge moskowitz denied the extradition of PS, saving his life. Mitterand died in 1996.

- Federal Judge Moskowitz denies extradition request from Mitterand's
French government and releases Philip Savage from prison to live freely in the
U.S. while he appeals for political asylum. Philip Savage's case is the most
important religious freedom case in recent American history because it
documents government persecution by a European ally of the U.S., which much
of the world considers to be a free, democratic, religious country, which it isn't.
